Our Story

Youth Educational Services, Inc.

Youth Education Services(YES) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that was founded by George E. Mitchell in 2017 in hopes of creating equitable access to educational services through libraries in the park heights community at Langston Hughes Community, Business and Resource Center (LHCBRC). In the first few years, we were successful in opening (3) libraries within the facility that provided books and resources for youth, adolescents and seniors. As the center continued to engage the community, we worked to address additional needs such as food, clothing, mental health, child care, substance abuse, education and employment needs by partnering with community stakeholders to provide wrap-a-round support and services within the facility.

Our vision is to create a space that provides mental health support, mentorship programs, educational support, employment trainings, certifications and additional programming and supports that reduces community violence and interrupts the cycle of poverty by creating a pathway for long-term success.
