Dr. La Tonya Dyer is a passionate educator and leader with over 23 years of experience helping colleges and universities improve how they design courses, train faculty, and support student success. She currently serves as Executive Director of the Advanced Academic Program Instructional Resource Center at Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts and Science. In her current she leads efforts to make learning more engaging, accessible, and effective using innovative teaching strategies and instructional technologies. She holds a doctorate from Towson University, two master’s degrees from UMBC, and a business degree from Howard University. Dr. Dyer brings a unique blend of academic expertise, strategic leadership, and community engagement to her role as Co-Vice President of the YES, Inc. Board. Her passion for youth empowerment and commitment to accessibility, equity and innovation make her a dynamic advocate for the organization’s mission and a trusted voice for the communities it serves.
Jameliah Blount is an accomplished accounting professional with over a decade of experience in financial management, bookkeeping, and operational leadership. As the founder of JKB Account Solutions, she provides tailored bookkeeping and accounting services to businesses and nonprofits across various sectors. Jameliah holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance from Stevenson University. Her career includes roles such as Accounting Manager at Josh Mente & Associates and Director of Finance at ITT Technical Institute, where she excelled in budget oversight, financial reporting, and strategic planning. Known for her precision, integrity, and client-focused approach, Jameliah empowers organizations to make informed financial decisions and maintain long-term sustainability.
Curtis McMeekin comes to Youth Educational Service (YES) with a wealth of knowledge and experience gained having served in several managerial capacities for non-profit organizations, as well as, knowledge and experience gained during his tenure in management positions with Baltimore City’s Department of Housing and Community Development and the Baltimore City’s Law Department. In the past, Mr. McMeekin has been a staunch supporter of Youth Educational development when he served as Chair of the Thurgood Marshall Law and Leadership Development Corporation which was located at the Historic Frederick Douglass High School. He has recently decided to lend his skills, knowledge and energy to YES. YES is glad to have Mr. McMeekin join its board.
Genie Gunthrop has a combined eighteen years’ experience in local State Government. Her current role as an Administrative Officer focuses on fiscal budgeting and procurement. Genie also serves as a Talent Director for a local Chick-fil-A (CFA) restaurant. At CFA, she focuses on hiring top talent and maintaining a culture reflective of CFA’s core values. She is passionate about equitable opportunities for everyone regardless of demographics. She is looking forward to positive relationship with the community and its partners while serving on the YES Board
